  • Salicylic Acid (BHA) -- AHAs are water-soluble and exfoliate the outer skin surface and stratum corneum, whereas Salicylic Acid (BHA) is lipid-soluble and penetrates deep inside oil-filled pores to dissolve sebum and clear comedones.
  • Polyhydroxy Acids (PHAs) -- PHAs (such as Gluconolactone and Lactobionic Acid) have larger molecular weights and multiple hydroxyl groups, penetrating skin much slower than AHAs for ultra-gentle exfoliation with zero stinging.
  • Topical Retinoids (Retinol / Retinal) -- AHAs work primarily by chemical cleavage of corneodesmosome bonds in the stratum corneum, whereas retinoids bind nuclear RAR receptors to regulate cellular differentiation and gene expression deep in the epidermis and dermis.
